Nardiyono currently works as a project manager at Borneo Futures, overseeing a biodiversity monitoring program using the Citizen Science method at PT SIPEF Group in Sumatera and a Citizen Science program for independent smallholder oil palm farmers at PT Musim Mas in Riau Province.

He has extensive experience working directly with orangutans, first at a reintroduction project in Wanariset, Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara Regency and an orangutan release project in the Sungai Wain Protection Forest, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

He later worked for The Nature Conservancy, as an orangutan project leader and for the Orangutan Conservation Services Program in East Kalimantan. During this time, he also contributed to the development of the 2008 High Conservation Value (HCV Toolkit) Identification Guidebook.

Nardiyono was first introduced to Borneo Futures’ work during his 13-year employment at the palm oil company PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk as Head of Conservation Department. Here, he was responsible for wildlife-conflict mitigation programs, biodiversity data collection and management, HCV management reporting to the government, and requirements for ISPO and RSPO certification. Through this, he led the PENDAKI Citizen Science program, introduced and piloted by Borneo Futures, which proved his expertise in managing such programs.
