Emily leads communications at Borneo Futures, overseeing the development and delivery of content across social media, research outputs, and corporate communications. A passionate writer in both academic and creative contexts, Emily’s professional ambition is to make science accessible and actionable, translating research into meaningful outcomes for people and the planet.

With an interdisciplinary background spanning planetary health, conservation science, infectious disease, and creative writing, she brings a broad and integrative perspective to her work, enabling the production of inclusive, nuanced narratives that clearly convey the organisation’s values, commitments, and impact.

Growing up in the rainforests of Borneo, she developed an early appreciation for the connections between environmental integrity, human wellbeing, and sustainable development. Her interdisciplinary academic background in Planetary Health, as well as these formative experiences continue to shape her professional focus and long-standing commitment to conservation and environmental justice.

Emily has lived and worked across Indonesia, Europe, Southeast Asia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, and brings a strong cross-cultural perspective to her role. She recognises the importance of international collaboration and inclusive communication in addressing complex global challenges, particularly in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
